For the second year, $40,000 in High Tech Academic Achievement Scholarships will be awarded to deserving AVID students at the May 21 awards dinner. The scholarships are made possible by $20,000 grants from the USS Midway Museum and the Jack in the Box Foundation.
“No greater investment can be made than one that recognizes and inspires students,” said USS Midway Museum’s President & CEO, Mac McLaughlin. “Our support of this program is just one aspect of a broader and very effective partnership between Midway and the Classroom of the Future Foundation.”
“The Jack in the Box Foundation’s focus on improving children’s lives is the basis of our support for High Tech Academic Achievement scholarships,” added the Foundation’s Director, Kathy Kovacevich. “Providing college-education opportunities benefits these students, their families, and our community.”
Since 1999, local business and civic organizations have donated nearly $450,000 worth of scholarships that have been distributed to approximately 250 AVID students across San Diego County.
