Community Schools…

The JCCS Court Schools, also known as San Diego SOAR Academy, serve detained students in classrooms at Kearny Mesa and East Mesa juvenile detention facilities as well as Urban Camp and Girls Rehabilitation Facility.

The mission of Davila Day School is to provide deaf and hard-of-hearing students with a comprehensive, fully accessible and language-rich learning environment, with equal access to the general education curriculum and standards.

The Early Education Programs and Services Unit provides: (1) Early intervention services to infants/toddlers with special needs birth to three years of age and their families. (2) Professional development to support quality early education programs for children birth to five. (3) Leadership in developing preschool experiences that are developmentally appropriate and designed to promote school readiness for all children. (4) Oversight to Local Child Care and Development Planning Council.

The Friendship School is a special education school in Imperial Beach that serves students who have multiple severe disabilities with health impairments. The school is operated by the San Diego County Office of Education, and is affiliated with the South County Special Education Local Plan Area (SELPA).

Migrant Education, Region IX, is a supplemental educational program which provides support services through collaborating with school districts and other community agencies to maximize the potential of migrant students. Working closely with parents, each district designs its own plan of services to provide the most effective program possible for students to ensure equitable opportunities and increase graduation rates.

Monarch is a unique school that serves the needs of students experiencing homelessness, helping them break the cycle of homelessness through education. It’s a partnership between the Monarch Project and San Diego County Office of Education.

The North County Academy (NCA) is a San Diego County Office of Education school that contracts with the San Diego Center for Children for its therapeutic services. The purpose of this partnership is to offer a school designed to meet the academic and therapeutic needs of students with mental health concerns

The Outdoor Education Foundation provides hands-on learning opportunities and programs to bring real-life science action research and activities to children and teachers throughout the region.

San Pasqual Academy is a first-in-the-nation residential education campus designed specifically for 12- to 19-year-olds in foster care. It is a partnership between the County of San Diego, New Alternatives, Inc., San Diego County Office of Education, and Access, Inc.
