The Classroom of the Future Foundation (CFF) was proud to co-sponsor the #GoOpen Regional Summit hosted by Vista Unified School District on October 7th.
The #GoOpen initiative was designed through the Department of Education to help schools transform their educational systems through the use and creation of Open Educational Resources (OER). OER are defined by the US Department of Education as materials that can be used for teaching and learning that are online and free to use, edit, and distribute without violating copyright.
Dr. Erin English, Director of Blended and Online Learning at Vista USD opened the summit with a welcome and recognitions. Dr. Devin Vodicka, Superintendent of Vista USD spoke about Vista USD’s commitment to OER. An interactive presentation was given by OER – Kristina Peters, K-12 Open Education Fellow, Office of Educational Technology. Break out sessions followed with speakers presenting ideas on how OER can promote innovation in education.
